Engagement Session

Teri & Alex

I've know Teri and Alex for years now. I first met them at a local Cross Fit gym back home in Laredo, TX. Teri had reached out to me a few months back and when she told me she was engaged I was undoubtedly excited for them both!

Needless to say we met up via Google Meets to talk wedding details and photography coverage for their big day. Fast forward a few weeks, Teri & Alex called me to let me know they wanted to book me as their wedding photographer!

My mind began to work! As I do with all my couples, we scheduled a video call to discuss ideas and locations for their engagement session. Engagement Sessions are the perfect way to get to know each other and the best way to help share the love story between the two of you. It also helps create the hype that comes with the wedding journey. You get to share your engagement session photos with your friends and family, perhaps even create some SAVE THE DATE cards to send out accordingly. And if you're lucky enough, you just might end up on someone's refrigerator lol! How COOL is that?! See what I did there.

Alex proposed to Teri during an ACL (Austin City Limits) Music festival last year. So when we hopped on the video chat, they expressed how important it was to them that Austin be the location for their photographs. They talked about Zilker Park and getting lost downtown with some fun shots and they even brought up the idea of renting a Retro Boat for photos right on Lady Bird Lake. Hearing their excitement got my gears turning and anxious for session day.

After all the planning, boat reservations, wardrobe ideas, Google earth scouting along with several hours of on foot scouting the day of the session, the end result was PERFECT!

We began the session down Congress St. near the Capital. There were a few spots such as the Paramount Theatre, crosswalks and other neat architecture that I wanted to incorporate for some downtown aesthetics. These worked out great!

We then made our way to Lady Bird Lake to catch our 6p Retro Boat Rental. A quick walk through on the boats controls and safety measures and we were off to the sunset enjoying every minute of the experience.

After the Retro Boat ride we headed to Zilker Park for some blue hour photos. Teri and Alex changed into a more comfortable wardrobe which allowed for more poses on the grass and a more loose aesthetic. At the end of the evening we were full of love and good vibes. It's such a wonderful feeling when I get to witness couples like Teri & Alex in front of my camera.

This engagement session is a prime example that with great planning and even greater vibes your Engagement Session can be one for the books.
