This short post is long overdue and I’ve been really trying to fill in as many “Journal” entries here as possible. I want people (my brides and grooms) to have a place here where they can read my words and feel a connection with me as a human being.
Things typed out here may not even make sense at times but this is all a practice. A practice of self patience and discipline to sit down and type out what I’m thinking. So don’t be alarmed if you hear me rambling off...kinda like I am now HA!
Anywho. A few months ago I took a trip to Medina Lake out in Bandera, TX for an engagement session with my lovely couple Kevin & Rochelle. They drove out from San Antonio, TX and well I drove up from good ol’ Laredo, TX. I get pretty anxious when I have to drive out of town for any sessions. The anxiety drills me and my brain is constantly firing away at all types of ideas and scenarios.
Here Iam “Siri” in one ear and my thoughts and creative ideas in the other. Needless to say I missed a few turns. Which is why I prefer the old classic map. No GPS in your ear. And guess what, you need to view the map? Well you stop on the side of the road, breath some fresh air and pick out your route! It’s perfect.
I travel light for my sessions. Normally I pack a Fuji XPro 2 body and Fuji lenses, an extra battery and that it. No fancy lights, gadgets etc. Just one small bag.
Shooting this way helps me get closer to my subjects. The abscence of gadgets keeps me interacting with my bride and groom. And the results are always amazing.
